The Open4Energy knowledge directories (knowledge is defined as information that is associated with an action to be taken - in this case "to save energy") are built from unbiased innovative (disruptive) products that we think are worth knowing about . There is no cost to a manufacturer for being included in a directory, in fact products are selected by Open4Energy based on their innovative ability to save energy.

Each product selected includes a short summary taken from the manufacturers web site. The product name is linked directly to an appropriate page (we test for scams and authentic web addresses) on the manufacturers web site. We leave it to each manufacturer to present the case for their product. Each product has a post, written by a domain expert, and filed in the relevant moderated forum. Real users of the product are invited to share their experience by posting comments against the product posting.

Open4Energy publishes a directory of energy scams. The word scam (link is to Wiktionary) is used by Open4Energy to describe a product that makes unreasonable or misleading claims about its capabilities to save energy. We do not include a product in our scam directly lightly. Each product included in the scam directory is linked to a page explaining the basis of our opinion. We do ask that readers with personal experience of these products Contact us to share their experiences.

Open4Energy invites selected manufacturers to advertise on our pages. We trust that considered adverts which are contextually relevant; unobtrusive; in good taste; for interesting new products; will be valued by our readers.
