Home Energy Monitoring - Opinion

As we ramp up on our awareness and the need to save energy in our homes we are being bombarded with offers of new home energy monitoring devices claiming all sorts of energy savings.

We invite you to explore our Energy Monitors and Displays to be able to see the amount of electricity you are using.

In our review of smart power strips Where is the Vampire Power we mentioned use of two measuring tools, the Kill-a-Watt and the more expensive but significantly more accurate Watts up .Net device. Unfortunately for the manufacturer of the "smart strip" we found that there is no energy to be saved using it in a typical home office configuration.

We are concerned that the marketing claims of many of these new devices bears little resemblance to the real energy facts in a typical home environment. But rather than be down on technology innovation and suspicious of marketing claims we would like to engage with home owners and publish user opinion and real data on your experiences.
